Brief Biography

David Kenny is a cum laude dental graduate of The University of Western Ontario, London, Canada. He completed his diploma in pediatric dentistry and PhD in neurophysiology at the University of Toronto. He joined The Hospital for Sick Children as staff Pediatric Dentist in 1973. Dentist-in-Chief at The Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario, Ottawa from 1977 to 1981. 

Dentist-in-Chief at The Hospital for Sick Children from 1981 to 1997. Director of Dental Research and Graduate Studies from 1997 to 2006. Director, Cleft Lip and Palate/Craniofacial Dental Program from 1982-2008. Senior Associate Scientist, Research Institute 1998-2008. Professor of Dentistry, University of Toronto since 1989 and School of Graduate Studies since 1996. 

Consultant in departments of dentistry and research Bloorview Kids Rehab from 1981 to 2006. Member of the editorial board of Dysphagia from 1993-2007 and Dental Traumatology since 2000.

Research Interests

David established the very productive Toronto SickKids Dental Trauma Research Group in 1988. Research interest continues in all aspects of dentoalveolar injuries: prevention, clinical management, economic and social impact.
