Brief Biography

Lily completed her PhD in Psychology (Cognitive Neuroscience & Clinical Neuropsychology) at the University of Toronto and Rotman Research Institute.  Her graduate work focused on memory mechanisms and how these processes are influenced by factors like emotional arousal, attention, aging, and dementia.  To this end, she used a variety of techniques including magnetoencephalography (MEG), and eye movement monitoring (EMM).  During this time, she also completed clinical practicums in neuropsychology at the Hospital for Sick Children and Baycrest Health Sciences.

Lily joined the Mabbott lab in 2012 as a CIHR-funded postdoctoral fellow.  She is involved in a number of projects examining the effects of brain tumour treatment on memory structures (e.g. hippocampus) and function, and how to ameliorate treatment-related damage through interventions such as physical exercise and drug therapy.  She uses structural MRI, diffusion tensor imaging (DTI), MEG, neuropsychological assessment and qualitative methods (i.e. Autobiographical Interview).  In addition to research, Lily also conducts clinical assessments for different patient populations such as those with brain tumours, epilepsy, stroke, NF1, and disorders in genetics, metabolics and movement at SickKids and Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.  She attained her full license as a neuropsychologist in June 2013.
