Arlene Yee

Dr. Yee is responsible for technology commercialization and industry engagement activities at the Industry Partnerships and Commercialization Office (IP&C) at The Hospital for Sick Children. She leads a team of professionals at the IP&C where her role includes evaluating and assessing technology disclosures, commercialization of technology opportunities, licensing, spin-off company formation, sponsored research, and industrial liaison. With 20 years of technology transfer and business development experience in academic health sciences and life sciences, her vast expertise includes commercializing a variety of intellectual property, and establishing and managing professional teams for technology commercialization. Arlene’s previous appointments were at McMaster University and the University of Guelph. Before joining SickKids, she was an Industrial Liaison Manager at McMaster University where she interfaced with McMaster’s Faculty of Health Sciences and its two affiliated teaching hospitals, Hamilton Health Sciences and St. Joseph’s Healthcare. She is also a Registered Technology Transfer Professional, a designation that recognizes professionals in the tech transfer and business development areas of the profession. She is an active member of The Licensing Executive Society (LES) and The Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM).

Dr. Yee received a doctorate degree in veterinary medicine and a Master's degree in Science specializing in microbiology at the University of Guelph, and has completed executive business courses at Queen’s University and Harvard Business School.

Her volunteer activities include ACCT Canada (Past-Chair of the Membership Committee), LES Toronto Chapter (Past Co-Chair), AllerGen Network Centre of Excellence (previous Network-Supported Intellectual Property Advisory Committee Member), and OnSETT (previous Board Member).
