Heidi Falckh


Heidi Falckh is the senior project manager with over 15 years of experience helping staff at SickKids broaden the impact of research discoveries through commercialization. Her comprehensive knowledge and experience includes strategic planning, negotiating contracts, managing patent files, technology and knowledge transfer, industry relations, start-up companies and authorship of many related guidelines, policies, procedures and standards at SickKids including intellectual property, conflict of interest, signing authority and asset management. As the former Director of Knowledge Partnerships, Heidi led the commercialization of health information and communication technologies, clinical decision rules, and support tools and professional and consumer education products developed by SickKids physicians, scientists and professionals. To date, Heidi’s leadership has contributed to the successful commercialization of many SickKids products including the SickKids branded publishing portfolio, EmpowerTM Reading Program, health outcomes and quality of life measures, and to the creation of two start-up companies, Bedside Clinical Systems and Otosim, Inc. Heidi created and chaired the SickKids Family Knowledge Group, which is an international online market research network of more than 550 volunteer parents and caregivers dedicated to helping SickKids staff create exceptional consumer books and other educational products. Heidi is also involved in identifying synergies between traditional technological commercialization models for products and services designed to solve social problems related to child health.

Heidi received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Western Ontario.
