SickKids Nursing is proud to offer you this custom Roots Apparel collection designed to provide you with a functional, comfortable and stylish look.

Work wear for nurses has undergone considerable evolution over the last 100 years. Gone are the days when nurses (all women) wore starched whites, stockings, caps and capes! Today's trends see nurses wearing anything from coloured and patterned scrubs to street clothes. However, what we have lost is our identifying look that allows anyone—the public and other professionals—to say, “Wow, that person is a Nurse”!

Recognizing that Nursing is a distinctive profession deserving of an identifying, professional image, a design team set out to create Nursing Wear. Since October 2006, we have been working with Roots to create a unique clothing line for SickKids Nurses. The design team was challenged to create clothing that provides nurses with a high degree of comfort, versatility, and quality, while allowing for differences in personal preference, body types, and genders and is fashion forward. In addition, the clothing line needed to be adaptable to the wide spectrum of roles in which nurses are engaged! After much feedback from individual nurses and RN Council Representatives, and after many revisions, we did it!

Step 1

Step 2

Once you download the order form (PDF File), which will allow you to order the items that you select off the item sheet.  You will need to fill in all pertinent information on the right side of the form in order for the order to be fulfilled correctly. All orders must include credit card information to cover the shipping charges. Shipping is approximately $5 in and around the GTA. A delivery date must also be entered - this should be a date when someone will be available to accept the order from the courier during the day. If you work Monday-Friday during the day, you can arrange to have the order shipped to the Centre for Nursing (shipping fees still apply) and pick it up at the hospital.

Step 3

Once the order form is filled out it can be faxed to 416-781-7062 Attention: SickKids Nursing Wear Program. This information is present on the top right of the form to ensure that it reaches the correct people. Note that all sales are final and there are no exchanges, returns, or refunds unless the garment is damaged or has a manufacturing defect.

Step 4

The order forms will be picked up from the fax machine by designated Roots team member(s). The order will be reviewed to ensure all pertinent / relevant order information has been completed. Roots will contact a SickKids representative to ensure that the person ordering is indeed a current SickKids Nurse (as per SickKids Directory). An email will be sent to you by Roots advising that the order has been received. If at this time any required information is missing or if there are issues with regards to availability of the ordered items you will be notified accordingly.

Step 5

Once approval has been given by a SickKids representative, the order will be processed by Roots. An order will be set up in the system, units picked, packed, and shipped out to your home address via courier.  The credit card will be charged accordingly using the credit card information supplied and the amounts calculated from the invoice. The invoice will be mailed out to the nurse's home address for your records.
