What we've done

  1. Developed new surgical procedures for a number of disorders such as for hip and spine problems.
  2. Ran multi-center clinical trials to identify the best treatments for several common orthopaedic problems.
  3. Identified the causative genes for more than a dozen orthopaedic conditions.
  4. Identified non-operative treatments, such as drug therapies and continuous passive motion, which reduced the need for surgery or improved the outcome of surgery
  5. Developed programs to improve orthopaedic outcome in developing countries.
  6. Treated over 500,000 children for orthopaedic problems, and performed over 80,000 orthopaedic operations.
  7. Developed injury prevention and disease screening strategies to reduce the incidence of children sustaining fractures and requiring treatment for neglected problems.
  8. Trained over 330 clinical fellows, more than any other single center in the world, who continue to make significant contributions in the field.
