Faculty from the Departments of Paediatrics, Surgery, Anesthesia, DPLM, DI and Critical Care (PICU) are invited to participate

TITLE:  Faculty Development for Teaching in Paediatric Settings (TIPS) course
Course Directors:  Sanjay Mehta, MD, Shelly Weiss, MD

Description:     
Targeted for all levels of medical and surgical faculty within the Departments of Paediatrics, Surgery, Anesthesia, DPLM, DI and Critical Care (PICU).  Come join us for five free interactive 1.5 hour sessions hosted by internal and external co-facilitators on recurring weekdays every month from September 2011 through January 2012, and repeated again from February 2012 through June 2012.  Lunch will be provided, and all sessions will be on site.  Modules are not linked sequentially, so feel free to come to a few or come to all.  Certificates of completion will be provided to those who attend at least 3 out of 5 of the sessions. 

The series is organized by Dr. Sanjay Mehta, Division of Paediatric Emergency Medicine in collaboration with Dr. Shelly Weiss, Director, Office of Faculty Development. This activity will be accredited for educational credit with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

Program Objectives: 

After participating in the TIPS course, participants will:

  1. Learn practical tips to improve teaching skills in the in-patient and /or ambulatory setting
  2. Develop interactive teaching techniques and other methods to enhance presentation skills
  3. Strengthen skills in teaching the challenging learner
  4. Improve abilities to provide effective feedback
