Activity levels of boys

The picture below provides information about the activity of boys. The information in the picture tells us that:

  • On average, boys who are between 6 and 9 years of age and who have never been in hospital and do not have any health issues are active for over 200 minutes per day (black line on the left).
  • On average, boys who are between 10 and 12 years of age and who have never been in hospital and do not have any health issues are active for about 140 minutes per day (black line second from the left).
  • Health Canada recommends that children be active for at least 90 minutes per day (the red line in the picture is the recommended minimum amount of activity).
  • Boys who have had the Fontan operation are less active than other boys of the same age (each square is one boy who has had the Fontan operation, and most of the squares are below the black line).
  • Most boys who have had the Fontan operation get less than 90 minutes of activity each day (each square is one boy who has had the Fontan operation, and most of the squares are below the red line).
