Parents and physical activity

Previous research done by the Cardiovascular Clinical Research Unit has shown a relationship between the physical activity levels of children with complex congenital heart problems and parent questions about the children’s physical activity participation. That study found that parents who have questions about physical activity have less active children. Those children whose parents did not have questions about activity were a lot more active.

This study will continue this type of research among children with other types of medical conditions. Our goal is to evaluate whether parent questions about activity would be a simple and effective method to identify sedentary families that need more information about physical activity for their child.
