Study activities

Families who chose to participate received a short questionnaire about their child’s physical activity participation for the parent to complete. The child and parent(s) were then sent home with activity monitors that they were requested to wear for one week. The activity monitors were about the size of a two dollar coin and were worn on a belt around the waist for five weekdays and two weekend days (when the child was not in school). 

The activity monitors measure the person’s movement in all directions. 

Parents were also asked to complete an Accelerometer Recording Log to record the times that the monitors were worn and any comments or unusual events which should be taken into consideration.
