Overview of Funding
The RTC offers various competitive and non-competitive funding opportunities for SickKids trainees at the graduate and post-doctoral level. Below is an overview of our funding opportunities.

Graduate Studentship (Restracomp) | April 4th, 2012 12 p.m. | Provides research funding for graduate students who are pursuing either a master's or doctoral degree in any biomedical science, including nursing and health professions. | Enrollment in a full-time, thesis based master's or PhD degree program. |
Post-doctoral Fellowship (Restracomp) | April 4th, 2012 12 p.m. | Provides an opportunity for individuals who have obtained either a doctoral or medical degree to pursue at least two years of research training. | Must hold a doctoral degree (PhD or MD) and be applying to work in a lab or with a team of approved SickKids scientists. |
March 1 & October 1 (annually) | Provides research training for clinicians at the doctoral (PhD) level. | Must hold valid license and be enrolled in a full-time PhD degree program. | |
Trainee Start-Up Fund (TSUF) | February 1 and August 1 (annually) | One-time funding to support trainees in their desire to conduct research based on their own ideas or travel to another lab to learn a new research technique not available locally. | Graduate students, research fellows, trainees in paediatric health professions (i.e. nursing, dietetics, social work), residents and fellows in all paediatric clinical programs (i.e. medicine and surgery). |
Ongoing | Enables trainees to travel to events (i.e. conferences and workshops) that will enhance their research training experience. | Full-time trainee at SickKids at the time of application, travel, and reimbursement. | |
Summer Research Program (SSuRe) | January (annually) | 15-week program that provides an opportunity for undergraduate students to conduct research in a laboratory or clinical setting at SickKids under the supervision of a Research Institute scientist. | Students enrolled in an undergraduate degree program at the time of application. |
