Post-doctoral Fellowship

Overview

The Post-Doctoral Fellowship Program, also known as the Research Training Competition (Restracomp), is an intramural program that provides research funding for individuals who have obtained either a doctoral or medical degree to pursue at least two years of research training at SickKids.

Annual value: $33,750

Award status: Open

Deadline: April 4, 2012. 12:00pm

Eligibility

Fellows must be applying to work in the laboratory or with a team of an approved SickKids Senior Scientist, Scientist, Senior Associate Scientist, or Associate Scientist. Fellows may apply to Restracomp before the PhD or MD has been awarded; however, proof of degree must be provided before funding can begin. The full-time research fellow is required to spend a minimum of 80 per cent of his/her time in research. Clinical commitments cannot exceed 20 per cent or eight daytime hours per week.

Applicants who have completed two previous post-doctoral positions, or greater than five years of previous post-doctoral training, are considered too senior for Restracomp funding. For applicants holding both an MD and a PhD, seniority and eligibility will be determined from the time of the most recent degree.

SickKids staff in health professions such as nursing, dietetics, social work, and clinical psychology, who are engaged in a full-time fellowship, are also eligible to apply.

*Note: Annual renewal of the award is mandatory and each year students must demonstrate that they have applied for external funding.
