PhD, Research Associate

Fang received her PhD from the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Xi’an Jiaotong University.  She has worked in the Department of Medical imaging at the University Health Network and the Department of Diagnostic Imaging at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) as a research assistant where she was involved in the following studies: (a) fibre density index correlated with reduced fractional anisotropy in white matter of patients with glioblastoma, (b) assessment of tumor angiogenesis: dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI with non-targeted paramagnetic nanoparticles compared to Gd-DTPA in a rabbit Vx2 tumor model and (c) prediction of hemorrhagic transformation in acute ischemic stroke: MRI texture analysis versus visual inspection of Gd enhancement. Fang studied the sex differences in the human corpus callosum microstructure by combining T2 myelin-water Imaging and diffusion tensor magnetic resonance imaging.  Recently she moved to the Mabbott Lab and started investigating predictors of outcomes in long-term survivors of paediatric low-grade gliomas.
