MRI scans provide a window into the brain or spine. The photographs obtained by MRI are very detailed and help determine whether  demyelination has occurred and where the demyelinating lesions are located in the brain and spine. As part of our  National Study, we will be offering each child MRI scans at 3, 6, 12 months and annually following an initial demyelinating event. We will be looking at the scans very carefully to better understand demyelination and the recovery process. Healthy research volunteers are invited to complete two MRI brain scans, 18 months apart, so that we can compare brain growth between children with demyelination and healthy children.
