Anesthesia and Pain Medicine
The Department of Anesthesia and Pain Medicine at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) oversees the peri-operative care of 20,000 infants and children per year. Thirty-five full time paediatric anesthesiologists, 10 paediatric anesthesia Fellows, six anesthesia Residents, five Nurse Practitioners and one Psychologist deliver clinical care to infants and children at SickKids.
Anesthetic care is provided for all aspects of quaternary surgical care - cardiac surgery, craniofacial surgery, neurosurgery, neonatal surgery, solid organ transplantation, and interventional radiology. SickKids also maintains a busy ambulatory same day surgical unit. SickKids is a designated paediatric trauma centre for the Province of Ontario.
