Referral procedures

The Cancer Genetics Program at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) will see families in whom at least one member of the extended family has/had a childhood cancer or those at risk of developing familial cancer, with the following exclusions:

1. 1. The Cancer Genetics Program at SickKids will redirect families whose primary risk is developing hereditary
      • Breast/Ovarian Cancers
      • Colorectal Cancers
      • Prostate Cancer
      • Pancreatic Cancers
      • Melanoma
      • Retinoblastoma
   2. Families with hereditary conditions in whom members do not have or are not at risk for developing cancer should be referred to local genetics centres. We will refer local cases to The Division of Clinical and Metabolic Genetics at SickKids in Toronto
