Metrics of early childhood growth in recent human growth research: a scoping review

Principal investigator: Dr. Daniel Roth, Scientist at the Centre for Global Child Health and Child Health Evaluative Sciences, Staff Physician of Paediatric Medicine at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), Assistant Professor, Institute of Health Policy, Management & Evaluation at the University of Toronto.

Early postnatal growth is an important causal factor between early life and later health conditions. However, the different definitions and statistical information on growth challenge the integration of data across studies. This scoping review aims to: 1) describe and summarize the heterogeneity in early childhood growth metrics in recent research, and 2) generate a framework for categorizing operational definitions of childhood growth.
