Call For Abstracts

The symposium is organized by the Department of Paediatric Laboratory Medicine, SickKids, in affiliation with the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology, University of Toronto. The program includes invited speakers, and poster presentations from trainees and technologists within the discipline of laboratory medicine.

We invite all trainees, including MSc/PhD students, research/ clinical fellows and research/ medical technologists to submit an abstract on studies relevant to any aspect of laboratory medicine. 

  • Poster presentations will be judged for excellence and awarded prizes for first and second places in each category 
  • Awards will consist of a prize and a certificate


Instructions for Preparation of Abstracts

The deadline for submission of an abstract is: May 12, 2017. Abstracts and posters presented within the current academic year (since last July) are eligible. Abstracts will be compiled and reproduced in the Symposium Proceedings.

Document Standards

  • Font: Arial, 12pt
  • Margins: 1”
  • Length: Maximum 300 words, 1 page
  • Title must be in CAPITALS
  • Authors and affiliations in small case
  • Categories: Objectives, Methods, Results and Conclusions
  • Tables and graphs are permitted

  • Please submit an electronic version of your abstract (in Word format) by email. See Contact Information
  • Notification of acceptance of abstracts will be provided shortly after submission.


Symposium Registration

  • Free Registration for all attendees, whether submitting an abstract or not. Registration is now closed.
