Facility Access
The resources of this facility are available to academic researchers within the University of Toronto and beyond. Corporate users can also be accommodated but fees will be twice the amount charged to academic users for each service.
After registering with the facility and completing any required training courses, clients can book appointments using our online booking system to run samples on our analytical instruments without operator assistance. Appointments are booked on a first come, first-served basis but are subject to compliance with our Appointment Booking Policies. Clients needing to sort cells must have an approved Biosafety Cell Sorting Protocol. While most of our instruments are universally accessible, access to some of our instruments is restricted to particular academic groups (see Booking Appointments page for more info). Please see the Security Access portion on the "Getting Started" page for after hours access. The SickKids-UHN FCF is designated as a BSL-2 lab.
Hours
Normal operating hours are Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and the facility is staffed from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Requests to access the FCF on weekends or outside normal business hours can be made by completing the 24 Hour FCF access request form (see the Security Access section on the Getting Started page for more info). However, such requests will only be granted under specific circumstances and at the discretion of the FCF Directors. We also provide a limited number of "emergency" appointments for after-hours cell sorting on on SickKids-UHN FCF instruments (see Booking Appointments for more info).
