Brief Biography

Patricia Adams joined SickKids in July 2001, to pursue a career within the department of Diagnostic Imaging. Prior to coming to Image Guided Therapy (IGT), Patricia held nursing positions within the Emergency Departments in both Hamilton and Burlington Ontario for 20 years of her nursing career. Patricia also spent a year working with post open heart patients an ICU department in Hamilton Ontario. In 2004, Patricia acquired the position of the IGT clinic nurse. As the clinic nurse she coordinates specific IGT patients in order to provide optimal care ant treatment. This encompasses pre-procedure assessments, consults, and patient follow-up. She also has an active role in the Vascular Anomaly Clinic in which she prepares patients for their IGT procedures. Patricia also has been active in establishing patient education, such as procedural pamphlets. She participates in research projects within the IGT Department and in 2004 participated and presented at the First Paediatric Interventional Radiology Symposium at SickKids.

Patricia is committed to life-long learning and has been successfully certified in various nursing courses, which include; the PACU Course from Mohawk College and PALS certification. Presently Patricia is a student of Athabasca University in Alberta, Canada, working towards her Bachelor of Nursing Degree. She is professionally affiliated with the American Radiological Nurses Association.
