Brief Biography

Cindy Bruce-Barrett is a certified project management professional with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, a certificate in Management from Ryerson University as well as a Master’s degree in Community Health Nursing from D’Youville College in Buffalo New York.

Throughout her career, Cindy has held a variety of progressive positions within the healthcare sector and has developed a wealth of leadership and management experience. She joined the Hospital for Sick Children in 1997 as Child Health Services Director for a number of portfolios within the area of Medical Specialties before being appointed to the position of director, Corporate Strategic projects in 2004.

Cindy is a skilled and experienced facilitator accustomed to working closely with senior management teams and stakeholders from various sectors across healthcare. She has been actively involved in healthcare integration projects, partnering with various agencies to improve access across the continuum for complex and vulnerable paediatric patient populations. She also has experience working with provincial and national organizations, based on her past involvement in local pandemic planning at SickKids, and as the provincial lead for paediatric pandemic planning working with the Ministry of Health and Long term Care for Ontario. Cindy was also co-chair of the National Pandemic Planning working group exploring broader pandemic influenza activities through the Canadian Association of Paediatric Health Centres (CAPHC).

In her current role, Cindy acts as a consultant providing facilitation, strategic planning and advisory services for various corporate and clinically based programs internal and external to SickKids. Cindy also provides senior leadership for the International patient program as well as overseeing the selection, planning, execution and evaluation of large, complex projects and partnerships supporting achievement of SickKids international strategy.
