Brief Biography

Nesan began her education at the University of Windsor. She graduated with a B.A in Psychology and transitioned to a nursing degree program at Ryerson University. Nesan graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing.

Nesan began her career at the Montreal Children’s Hospital in General Surgery and Respiratory Medicine, Department of Paediatrics for two years after graduating. During this time, she gained solid knowledge and love for paediatric nursing. She then transitioned to back her home in Toronto at The Hospital for Sick Children in the Department of Paediatrics, Haematology/Oncology. In 1997, Nesan sought to broaden her horizons and made the move into the community sector working with children with complex needs at the Scarborough Community Access Centre as a Case Manager in Child and Family Services. Nesan’s committment to Child and Family Services led to a position of Client Services Manager within the same program. Concurrently, Nesan was still continuing her work within the Haematology/Oncology program at SickKids.

In 2003, Nesan decided to return to SickKids to continue her pursuit within the program she loved. She began working with Dr. Helen Chan and Dr. Brenda Gallie in the Retinoblastoma Program as their Clinical Nurse Research Coordinator. Nesan is responsible for coordinating and managing the Retinoblastoma multi-centre trial. She works closely with internal and external collaborators to ensure that safe clinical practice guidelines are followed by all participating trial sites.
