Brief Biography

Kimberly Colapinto is an Advance Practice Nurse in the Division of General Surgery. Her primary role is the management and coordination of surgical inpatients, with a special interest in Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia.

Kim obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree from Ryerson University (1998), a Master of Nursing from the University of Toronto (2003) and an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certificate from the University of Toronto (2003).

Kim began her nursing career at The Hospital for Sick Children in the Plastic Surgery and Urology ward. Later she became a pre-admission nurse for the General Surgery, Orthopedic, Otolaryngology, Ophthalmology and Dentistry program. In March 2004 she began the role as CNS-NP for the Division of General Surgery.

Clinical Care Activities

The Division of General Surgery cares for a wide variety of patients ranging from fairly routine procedures such as an appendectomy, to the more long term complex care of the child with gastroschisis or congenital diaphragmatic hernia. Kim’s role is to facilitate these patients’s care throughout their hospitalization and into the community ensuring that they have the proper resources available on discharge.

In 2002 Kim received a RNAO Advanced Clinical/Practice Fellowship which focused on General Surgery Acute Care Nurse Practitioner role preparation.
