Brief Biography

Dr. Cox is a medical graduate of the University of Cape Town in South Africa, where he trained in paediatrics before changing his career path to Anaesthesia which he completed in the United Kingdom. He received his Critical Care training at The Hospital for Sick Children Toronto, Canada and at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, UK. 

Cox was appointed as a Staff Physician in the Department of Critical Care Medicine at The Hospital for Sick Children in 1989, and was recognized as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in 1990. Cox has been intimately involved with the fellowship program for most of his time at SickKids. The program has now trained nearly 400 fellows from 42 different countries. 

Cox is a passionate clinician and teacher.

Research Interests

Research and clinical interests include pulmonary physiology, quality improvement and medical ethics.
