Brief Biography

In 1985 Ms. Dryden-Palmer graduated from Ryerson Polytechnical University with a Diploma in Nursing. She began working that year at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Ontario as a charge nurse/ staff nurse in the General Medicine Unit. Shortly thereafter she moved to the Critical Care Unit at the hospital as a staff nurse and within a year she became the clinical supervisor of that unit. She has remained in the CCU holding various positions like resource nurse, clinical instructor and nurse educator. In addition to her nursing work in the hospital, Karen has served as a clinical instructor at both the University of Toronto and Ryerson University.

Karen is a clinical nurse specialist for the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit in the Critical Care Medicine Program at SickKids. She is also a central director for National Board of the CACCN. She has 25 years experience in Paediatric Critical Care. Karen also has educator experience in community health learning, undergraduate nurse clinical teaching, and specialty development in clinical and classroom settings.
