Brief Biography

Dr. Forte recently retired from clinical practice and re-purposed to take up lead role in Hammers and Nails Program creating a better linkage between clinicians and engineers.

Forte's primary clinical interests were in paediatric airway reconstruction, the surgical management of head and neck cancer in children, surgical management of vascular and lymphatic malformations in children, embryologic surgery in children, and caring for the critically ill child with disorders of the ears, nose, or throat. He was the “point of final referral” for many of these children in Canada and in selected cases, internationally.

Currently Board Chairman of OtoSim Inc., a University of Toronto, SickKids, and MaRS Innovation owned start-up corporation aimed at revolutionizing otoscopy and ophthalmoscopy training worldwide. The OtoSim teaching simulator has already been adopted by over 150 major medical centres and simulation centers globally and is expected to expand considerably as more products are developed.

Dr. Forte remains committed to the clinical, educational and research visions and missions of both the University of Toronto and of The Hospital for Sick Children.
