Brief Biography

Dr. Fraser Golding graduated from Queen’s Medical School in 1995. Following his paediatric residency and training in paediatric cardiology at The Hospital for Sick Children, Dr. Golding undertook additional subspecialty training in paediatric echocardiography.  During his subspecialty fellowship, he focused on advanced techniques in echocardiography including fetal imaging, contrast echocardiography, stress testing, and intraoperative transesophageal echocardiography.

In 2003, during his subspecialty fellowship, Dr. Golding was appointed as an Associate Staff Cardiologist in the Section of Echocardiography.  In 2004 he joined the Division of Cardiology at SickKids as a Clinician Specialist with a clinical, research and educational focus within the Section of Echocardiography and the Fetal Cardiac Program. 

Since joining the Division of Cardiology, Dr. Golding has assumed responsibility for all of the technology projects for the division.  His first project was the conversion of image storage from analog to digital for the Echocardiography Laboratory. With the support of industry, he is currently developing a new Cardiovascular Information System for Labatt Family Heart Centre. He is also an active member on a number of information technology related committees for the hospital at large.

Dr. Golding has a strong interest in teaching for both paediatric cardiology and paediatric trainees.  He is the electives coordinator for the University of Toronto Electives Program for local, national and international medical students and paediatric residents.  He is the program co-director for the annual Fetal Outreach meeting, which focuses on enhancing prenatal detection of congenital heart disease.

With the support of Children’s HeartLink, a charitable organization, and other members of the Labatt Family Heart Centre, Dr. Golding has working with the Cardiovascular Program at West China Hospital in Chengdu since 2009.  The goal is to develop a training program in Paediatric Cardiology, while strengthening their clinical program

Research Interests

Dr. Golding is a co-investigator in a number of research projects mainly within the field of fetal cardiovascular medicine.  Since 2004, he has been a site collaborator for a number of studies for The Pediatric Heart Network, which is funded by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute.

Currently Dr. Golding is developing a number of teaching tools for paediatric echocardiography and paediatric cardiology; these tools will introduced and the effectiveness in knowledge translation and retention will be studied prospectively.
