Jill Hamilton received her medical degree at The University of Ottawa, Ontario and Paediatric specialty degree at The University of Toronto. She trained in Paediatric Endocrinology at The Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto.
She is currently Staff Physician in the Division of Endocrinology, Department of Paediatrics and Professor, University of Toronto and Senior Associate Scientist at the Research Institute at The Hospital for Sick Children. She is the medical director of the SickKids Team Obesity Management Program (STOMP), director of the Centre for Healthy Active Kids at SickKids and co-chair of the Ontario Paediatric Bariatric Network (OPBN).
- Comprehensive tertiary care of children and teens with complex obesity, including hypothalamic obesity and bariatric surgery patients
- Care of children with endocrine and metabolic disorders, with an interest in type 2 diabetes, hypothalamic and pituitary disorders and polycystic ovarian syndrome
- Insulin resistance/beta cell secretion and type 2 diabetes
- Clinical interventions and outcomes
Dr. Hamilton's research focuses on (i) the metabolic complications of obesity in childhood, (ii) biologic and psychosocial determinants of obesity, (iii) mechanisms of weight regulation in hypothalamic obesity, and (iv) obesity treatment outcomes and interventions.
