Brief Biography

Laurie Horricks is a Clinical Nurse Specialist with the Division of Adolescent Medicine. Laurie graduated from McMaster University in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She began her nursing career in Texas as an emergency room nurse where she became interested in the needs of high-risk adolescents.

Laurie returned to school at the University of Toronto and graduated with a Masters of Nursing in 2001. Her clinical focus while in school was in child maltreatment and high-risk adolescents. Laurie joined the Division of Adolescent Medicine shortly after graduating with her Masters.

Clinical Activities

Currently, Laurie’s focus is addressing transition needs of youth with chronic health conditions as they leave pediatric-oriented health care and enter adult-oriented health care. She is currently the program coordinator of the Good 2 Go Transition Program. This program is designed to prepare youth and families to leave SickKids with the appropriate skills and knowledge to maintain long-term health while in the adult health care system.
