Krista Johnston, B.Sc. PT

Brief Biography

Krista Johnston is a full-time physiotherapist in the areas of haematology/oncology and bone marrow transplant with a special interest in children with solid bone tumours. She provides in-patient assessment and treatment as well as out-patient consultation and has been part of the neuroscience team at SickKids since 2007. 

Johnston has a status appointment with the University of Toronto and has active involvement in labs, small group facilitation and being a preceptor for students. She has been involved in multi-centre research projects involving children with leukemia and is part of a committee working to stream an exercise program on the SickKids television network to help prevent deconditioning in children with long-term hospitalizations.

Research Interests

Strategies to improve physical function and quality of life in children receiving chemotherapy treatment for acute lymphoblastic leukemia. 

Strategies to improve developmental care for hospitalized infants and young children through participation in the “Beanstalk Program.”
