Brief Biography

Charis obtained her BScH from Queen’s University in 1996. She continued her studies at Queen’s University and obtained her BScN in 2000. She immediately started her nursing career at Sick Kids in the Burns, Plastics and Urology Program in the summer of 2000 and remains there today. After refining her nursing skills, Charis started her Masters of Nursing and Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program at the University of Toronto in 2003 and completed the program in 2004. She returned to the Burns and Plastics department as the Nurse Educator for a short-term position before she left the program to acquire and develop new skills in an APN role in General Surgery.

Clinical Activities

Charis returned to the Burns, Plastic Surgery and Craniofacial Program in 2007 as the Advanced Practice Nurse. Her primary role focuses on collaborative management of the longer-term patients including the burn population and the Pierre Robin Sequence infants ensuring the efficient delivery of care. She is passionate about providing optimal pain management as well as supporting and acting as an advocate to children and their families. She is also interested in the facilitation and implementation of quality improvement initiatives thereby providing superior care to patients and families.
