Brief Biography

Dr Amina Lalani joined the Department of Pediatric Emergency Medicine in 2003. She obtained her medical doctorate from the University of British Columbia, followed by pediatric residency at the University of Alberta. She then completed a fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at the Hospital for Sick Children.

Dr Lalani is the academic fellowship director for the department of pediatric emergency medicine. There are 15 fellows currently in both fellowship programs. In addition, Dr Lalani is the conference chair for the annual SickKids conference on pediatric emergency medicine, and is actively involved in continuing medical education. She is the co-editor for the SickKids Handbook of Pediatric Emergency Medicine, published in 2007.

Dr Lalani has an ongoing interest in international health and has completed teaching assignments in Kampala, Uganda and Tajikistan. Most recently, she was part of a medical team that provided medical care in a clinic in rural Nicaragua.
