Brief Biography

Lecturer, The Department of Ophthalmology & Vision Sciences, University of Toronto; Associate Staff, The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), Staff Ophthalmologist, Mount Sinai Hospital, Courtesy Staff, North York General and Humber River Regional Hospitals; Staff ophthalmologist at William Osler hospital in Brampton. 

Fariba was born and raised in Iran, where she did seven years of medical school at the Medical Sciences University of Iran in Tehran, and later worked as a family physician for six months in Tehran’s suburb. She completed four years of residency in ophthalmology at the Medical Sciences University of Iran, later working as a general ophthalmologist and Assistant professor at the Medical University of Avesina, Hamedan-Iran for one year. Moving back to Tehran, she worked as a general ophthalmologist and lecturer at Shahid Beheshti Medical School for two years. Fariba then immigrated to Canada and was accepted into the International Medical Graduate Program (IMG) at the University of Toronto, where she did a year of clerkship, a year of internship and redid four years of residency in Ophthalmology. In 2008 she completed a one year fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology at SickKids in Toronto. She is currently working as a Staff Ophthalmologist at Mount Sinai Hospital and Lecturer at the University of Toronto. She is also Associate Staff at SickKids, Courtesy Staff at North York General and Humber River Hospitals, and works as staff ophthalmologist at William Osler Hospital in Brampton.
