Brief Biography

Sandy Steinwender is an Occupational Therapist within the Dept of Rehabilitation.  Sandy graduated from McMaster University and has over 15 years of clinical experience in paediatrics.  Sandy’s area of clinical expertise is in Neonatology working with preterm infants, infants and young children (0 to three years).  Sandy has specialized skills and abilities related to infant feeding, videoflouroscopic feeding studies, neurodevelopment, fine and sensory motor function. Currently, Sandy provides assessment, intervention and consultation for infants and families in both the NICU and the Neonatal follow up clinic.  Sandy has completed several specialized courses and qualifications related to infant feeding and swallowing, videofluroscopy and neurodevelopment (Wolf & Glass, Beckman Oral Motor, Vital Stim, NDT, General Movements Assessment).  Sandy holds a teaching status appointment with the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Toronto.
