Brief Biography

Arthur has been a Certified Orthotist at SickKids since 1979 and will celebrate thirty years of service in April 2009. He graduated with honours from George Brown College from the Technical Aspect of Orthotics program and became a Certified Orthotist in 1983.

During his career, Arthur was instrumental in the development of scoliosis bracing and started the plagiocephaly helmet program at SickKids in 1990. He also introduced bracing for pectus carinatum at SickKids in 2005. He has been involved in all aspects of orthotics from burn treatment to foot orthotics during his career. He has educated clinical students enrolled at George Brown College on scoliosis bracing and is active with research projects within the hospital.

From 1988 to 2008, Arthur held the positions of Clinical Specialist and Clinical Leader and currently uses his expertise to specialize in spinal bracing and corrective helmet treatment for plagiocephaly. He is also active in making protective helmets on an in-patient post-surgical bases as well as servicing out-patient clients from other clinics across Ontario. Arthur continues to participate in the activities at the Centre for Orthotics such as the Annual Open House designed to educate employees about the products and services available.

Arthur is also involved with his community. In 1985, he joined the York Regional Police Auxiliary Unit and currently holds the rank of Auxiliary Inspector. He is responsible for all training for the Auxiliary Police Unit; of which there are 130 members. He is an avid fisherman, a Harley Davidson motorcycle rider and wood worker.
