Brief Biography

Kristi Whitney-Mahoney is a physical therapy practitioner in the Department of Rehabilitation Services and within the Division of Rheumatology. Whitney-Mahoney's clinical expertise is in the area of paediatric rheumatic disease and associated musculoskeletal disorders.  As an Advanced Clinician Practitioner in Arthritis Care, ACPAC (C), Whitney-Mahoney provides comprehensive care, including the assessment and ongoing ambulatory management of children with rheumatic disease. This inter-professional model of care is facilitated by the use of medical directives, allowing the independent ordering of laboratory investigations, diagnostic imaging and communicating results to patients and families. 

Whitney-Mahoney participates in education activities for patients and families, health care professionals and trainees.  In addition, she holds a status appointment as a clinical lecturer at the University of Toronto, Department of Physical Therapy.

Whitney-Mahoney is also a member of PRCOIN (Pediatric Rheumatology Collaborative Outcomes Improvement Network), the SickKids Ambulatory Quality Steering Group, and co-chair of the Division of Rheumatology Clinical and Quality Council.

Research Interests

Quality improvement and outcomes in children with inflammatory arthritis and other rheumatic disease. Other research interests include outcome measurement (e.g. metrology in enthesitis-related arthritis, the childhood health assessment questionnaire) in paediatric rheumatic disease.
