Bruce Richmond appointed chair of the SickKids Board of Trustees

TORONTO - The Board of Trustees of The Hospital for Sick Children (Sick Kids) is pleased to announce the appointment of Bruce Richmond as the chair of the board, effective July 1, 2005.

“Over the past four years Bruce has been a major contributor to our board and hospital, and we are delighted that he is taking over the responsibility as chair of the board,” says David Galloway, past chair of the hospital's Board of Trustees.

Richmond , a vice-chair of Deloitte & Touche LLP, has served on the Sick Kids Board of Trustees for four years. Richmond is also a director of the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation in Canada and is the past chair of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canad

“Bruce brings a tremendous wealth of experience to the hospital because of his extensive background in both the corporate and philanthropy sectors,” says Mary Jo Haddad, president and CEO, Sick Kids.

Galloway has been appointed honorary chair of the Board of Trustees. For 13 years he has been a member of the board, serving the last three years as chair. He is currently chair of the Board of Directors for BMO Financial Group.

“We would like to thank David for his outstanding leadership during his term as chair,” says Haddad. “He has led the hospital through many achievements and challenges, helping Sick Kids to accomplish its many important goals as a leader in children's health.”
