Meagan's Walk 2005 Launch, Tuesday April 26th, 1 p.m. at SickKids

TORONTO – A Japanese Crane Ceremony will launch Meagan's Walk 2005 on the front lawn of Sick Kids on April 26 th at 1pm .

Meagan's Walk, Creating a Circle of Hope is a 5K walk that starts at Ontario Place and ends at Sick Kids in a human chain -- sharing one big hug around the hospital. The embrace is a symbol of hope, strength and support for the children of Sick Kids.

Denise Bebenek, a Toronto mom, honours her daughter each Mother's day through

Meagan's Walk, a unique Toronto event -- we know of no other event in the world where people get together to actually hug a building! Last year over 1,500 people walked and joined hands.

When Meagan was very ill her classmates at Our Lady of Sorrows offered origami cranes, the Japanese symbol of hope, as a wish to make her well. 1,000 origami cranes are needed to have one's wish granted.

Our community will launch this year's fundraising efforts by participating in A Crane Ceremony of Hope , making origami cranes for the children of Sick Kids.

Over 300 students from Our Lady of Sorrows School and St. Raphael Catholic School will perform Meagan's Song and participate in a Japanese Crane Ceremony.
