Santa’s elves touch down on SickKids heliport with toys and special guests

Santa’s Workshop is a very busy place these days, but that didn’t stop a few of Santa’s elves from taking the afternoon off to bring some joy to patients at SickKids.

Santa’s sleigh is still in the garage being prepared for the big day, so it was up to members of 400 (City of Toronto) Tactical Helicopter Squadron to give Santa’s elves a lift to SickKids this afternoon as part of Operation SickKids HO HO HO.

Joining Santa’s six elves this year were Toronto Maple Leafs players Mike Komisarek, Francois Beauchemin and Luke Schenn, who helped deliver a load of toys, books and donations.

Two Griffon helicopters departed Canadian Forces Base Borden, where the elves spent some time becoming acclimatized to our warmer weather, at 1 p.m. with the head elf a.k.a. Lieutenant-Colonel Dennis Levesque, 400 Tactical Helicopter Squadron commanding officer, leading the Griffons’ flight down to SickKids.

Before returning to the North Pole, the elves read stories to patients during storytime in the SickKids Reading Room.
