SickKids celebrates Patient Safety Week, November 1 to 5

It’s Canadian Patient Safety Week, a national campaign led by the Canadian Patient Safety Institute to increase awareness of patient safety issues and share information about best practices in patient safety. As leaders in patient safety, SickKids has plenty to celebrate – and we are doing just that this week with several awareness events for staff, families and patients!

“Ask. Listen. Talk. That’s the theme of Canadian Patient Safety Week this year. Canadian Patient Safety Week highlights this theme, but, in fact, “Ask. Listen. Talk.” is actually not time limited: it should be an important commitment for all of us, all the time, throughout and across the health-care continuum; between health-care providers; with patients and families; and with external providers. Ask. Listen. Talk. For quality care and for patient safety,” says Dr. Anne Matlow, Medical Director, Patient Safety and Medical Director, Infection Prevention & Control Program, SickKids, and Associate Director, Centre for Patient Safety, University of Toronto.

At SickKids the safety of patients, staff and visitors is our top priority. Learn more about patient safety at SickKids by visiting the Patient Safety section of our website.
