Camp Ooch’s leader named one of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40

Thanks to Rob Drynan, children with cancer at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) do not need to worry about missing out on summer fun. Drynan brings excitement into the Hospital every day.

Rob Drynan, executive director at Camp Oochigeas, is among this year’s exceptional recipients of the prestigious Canada’s Top 40 Under 40 award. Every year, Canada’s Top 40 Under 40 selects individuals from across Canada who exhibit excellence in their field.

Rob’s “dedication to the joint missions of Oochigeas and SickKids exemplifies the wonderful collaboration between these two great institutions in improving the lives of children with cancer,” says Dr.David Malkin, Associate Chief of Clinical Research, Co-Director of the Cancer Genetics Program, Senior Staff Oncologist and Senior Scientist at SickKids.

Camp Oochigeas allows children who have been affected by cancer to attend summer camp free-of-charge. Drynan spent his first year at Camp Oochigeas as a volunteer. Now, under his leadership, Camp Oochigeas has developed into a facility able to accommodate children both on and off-site. Children unable to make it out to the Lake Rosseau camp ground can participate in activities on the oncology floor at SickKids, an initiative developed by Drynan.
