Who has the ‘WOW’ Factor? SickKids’ IT team does

Since May, The Quest for Canada’s Smartest IT has been on the hunt for organizations with IT departments that go above and beyond the average call of technological duty – departments who are re-inventing the way their organization uses technology. The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) has one of those IT teams, and Tuesday night, at a special gala, SickKids' IT Department won a special award for using IT that sets them apart from the rest of the competition.

Called the WOW! Factor, the award honours an organization that uses innovative IT. In making their decision, the independent award panel made reference to several distinguishing achievements including the team’s, “leadership on the development and implementation of eCHN as a tool to help health care providers across the province quickly exchange medical information critical to children’s health. Currently eCHN extends across all regions of Ontario with 100 hospital sites, including six tertiary care centres, and captures the records of more than one million Ontario children and over five million patient visits annually. This technology is used daily as a tool to help save the lives of our children.”

Congratulations to the entire IT Department at SickKids for winning this award!
