Greater Toronto's Top Employers for 2012

GTA Top Employers 2012

We are proud to announce that SickKids has been named one of Greater Toronto's Top Employers for 2012 by Mediacorp Canada, as well as being one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers for 2012.

The designation was announced November 16, 2011, in a Globe and Mail special feature. Here are some of the reasons our staff agree that SickKids is a great place to work, learn and grow.

"What drew me to a career in nursing were the diverse ways, from direct patient care to policy development,  that nurses impact the health of patients and populations.  Nursing career opportunities at SickKids truly support this!  I have the support and flexibility to hold more than one role at SickKids. In fact, I am currently a Nursing Project Manager at SickKids International and the Co-Chair of the RN Council, a staff nurse advocacy group at SickKids.”

Stephanie de Young
Nursing Project Manager, Global Child Health Program
Co-Chair, RN Council

“I think SickKids is a great place to work because it is a progressive organization that is deeply committed to the unique needs of children, and healthier children are key to making a better world.”

Dr. Richard Hegele
Chief, Department of Paediatric Laboratory Medicine

“I like to work at SickKids because people are nice and they respect me. I’m happy to come to work and meet different people. I consider SickKids my second home.”

Cecilia Bagsit
Housekeeping Aide

“As an organization, SickKids truly aspires to provide care that is both ground-breaking and compassionate. I feel privileged to be part of an organization that recognizes the equal value of each person  in the delivery of care to patients and their families. As an individual, the support I receive from both SickKids and my colleagues is remarkable, and it is this support that allows me to contribute to improving child health in my own unique way.”

Sean Martin
Interprofessional Education Specialist - New Immigrant Support Network
Clinician Educator - Learning Institute

“I consider SickKids a great place to work since SickKids promotes and fosters new discoveries that can help the lives of children living with disease.”

Dr. Seema Mital
Staff Cardiologist
Associate Scientist, Genetics & Genome Biology,  Research Institute

“SickKids is truly a place that supports a multi-disciplinary work environment. Different perspectives of care are respected and encouraged and I think this makes a big impact on staff engagement as well as on the amazing patient care we offer here.”

Sarah McBain
Manager, Family Education & Resource Centre
