New program manager for eLearning design at SickKids

By Christine Macdonald

Thanks to the SickKids Learning Management System (LMS), staff can log on to iLearn and take advantage of an impressive array of learning opportunities and track their progress.

iLearn is a one-stop-shop for staff to pursue online learning. Courses offered include iLearn 101 – the learner module designed to familiarize you with the basics of the system – fire safety, blood product administration, rapid strep testing and service excellence, among many others.

Since the system launch in June 2011, the learning catalogue has grown from seven to over 150 modules thanks to many SickKids content developers. To date, there have been over 24,000 learning module completions.

Phase II of the LMS is currently being tested and will include classroom and clinical integration as well as access to new reports.

Learning is a fundamental value at SickKids – the critical link between new knowledge and its application in the care of sick children.
