SickKids celebrates the great work of its nurses

SickKids is celebrating National Nursing Week (May 6 to 10) by highlighting the leadership, professionalism and excellence of its wonderful nurses. SickKids nurses and nursing teams are being recognized at events throughout the week for their dedication to providing the very best possible care for the children and families we serve and for furthering the nursing profession.

“At SickKids, nurses are a leading force for change: from innovations in nursing practice to improvements in outcomes and quality of care, we are proud of our nurses and grateful for their commitment to SickKids, tradition of caring, compassion and leadership in child health,” says Mary Jo Haddad, President and CEO.

Not only are nurses raising the bar every day to ensure children and their families receive the safest and best care, they are collaborating with colleagues across all disciplines and roles to ensure the health-care system works efficiently and effectively.

“Our nursing team at SickKids has developed a world class reputation for paediatric nursing. Being an expert in paediatric nursing takes dedication and commitment. Our nurses have that in abundance and every day there are examples of stellar practices that influence others,” says Pam Hubley, Chief, Professional Practice and Nursing. “In that dynamic relationship, where nurses partner with children and families, nurses themselves are changed and transformed. The joy of nursing is a result of the knowledge and compassion we share with others.”

Happy National Nursing Week to all our nurses and to nurses across Canada!
