Join us this weekend at the Peter Gilgan Centre for Research and Learning for Doors Open Toronto!

By Carolyn Gooderham

The doors of the Peter Gilgan Centre for Research and Learning (PGCRL) will be wide open this weekend (May 23-24, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.*) as we greet the public for Doors Open Toronto 2015.

The first three floors will be open to the public, with featured exhibits from each of the six research neighbourhoods located in the Gallery (2nd floor). Researchers from various labs have designed interactive exhibits to demonstrate their research topics in a simplified way. Activities are child-friendly and educational, so bring the whole family!

Visitors will also have the opportunity to tour the 19th floor of the building, which will be scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants will have the chance to experience the ‘water cooler effect' in the building’s collaborative areas, while taking in an incredible view of the city.

About Doors Open Toronto

Doors Open Toronto offers free access to buildings that are architecturally, historically, culturally, and socially significant. This year’s theme of Sports, Recreation and Leisure honours the TORONTO 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games. Private and public recreational sites will be open, including Ryerson University’s Mattamy Athletic Centre, also supported by benefactor Peter Gilgan. Doors Open Toronto is Canada’s largest Doors Open event, and one of three largest Doors Open events in the world. Over two million visitors have had the opportunity to tour nearly 650 locations since the first Toronto event in 2000.

For a full list of exhibits and walking tours visit the City of Toronto website and Doors Open Ontario.
