An international leader in children’s health, SickKids is committed to achieving superlative outcomes in clinical care, education and research. We are proud to be part of a system in Ontario that is focused on quality, accountability, transparency and results, and we embrace our responsibility to be accountable to those who fund SickKids: taxpayers of Ontario and Canada and our individual, foundation and corporate supporters. As a member of the Toronto Central Local Health Integration Network, we are dedicated to making the best use of available resources and meeting the needs of the communities we serve.

The impact of SickKids is evident in healthier children and ground-breaking research. SickKids also has a commercial effect through Corporate Ventures, which in 2009-2010 reported 41 invention disclosures, 42 patent applications, and seven patents and trademarks for a total of 173 patents and trademarks issued to date. Licences were issued to two start-up companies, Reveille Inc., which is focused on regenerative medicine, and CellAegis Inc., which is developing a medical device for the treatment of cardiovascular conditions. The are 172 active licenses under Corporate Ventures. Licensing revenue generated $3.4 million for SickKids in 2009-2010, and revenue from industry partnerships generated $5 million.
