Who we see

The Chronic Pain Clinic is open to patients younger than 18 years of age through referrals by doctors or nurse practitioners. Typical patients referred to our clinic include children and adolescents with complex and chronic pain lasting longer than three months and not responding well to conventional pain management therapies.

The clinic has received referrals and consultations from various subspecialties including but not limited to: rheumatology, surgery, neurology, emergency, orthopedics, paediatrics, and psychiatry. Please note we no longer accept children with the primary pain complaint of headache.

Some chronic pain conditions include:

  • Chronic musculoskeletal pain
  • Neuropathic pain e.g complex regional pain syndrome
  • Chronic widespread pain
  • Abdominal pain
  • Pelvic pain
  • Pain related to medical diseases e.g. sickle cell disease
  • Pain related to surgery e.g. phantom limb pain
  • Medically unexplained pain
