The Centre for Image-Guided Care
The Centre for Image-Guided Care (CIGC) was established in 2012 to develop and promote excellence and collaboration in image guided clinical care, research and education. CIGC utilizes the existing image-guided therapy suite (IGT) as the major platform for delivering clinical care through the Centre. CIGC also integrates innovative image-guided care in many other locations throughout SickKids.
- As research leads to development of new and innovative procedures and technologies, the Centre will be the primary avenue to build clinical capacity through training and education and sharing of knowledge, skills, equipment and technology.
- The major research arm of CIGC, The Centre for Image-Guided Innovation and Therapeutic Intervention (CIGITI) was established to bring together surgeons, radiologists, engineers and software developers from universities and businesses to develop innovative technologies in robotic and minimally invasive surgery.
- Partnering with other paediatric imaging centres, academic institutions and adult image-guided services will also promote and build centre excellence through further innovation and collaboration.
