Application Process

The Paediatric Critical Care Training Program runs during the academic year from July to June.   

Number of positions available per year

Approximately 15 funded by SickKids

2-4 funded by the Ministry of Health (must be Canadian Graduates)

2-3 self-funded positions

Duration of Training Program

International Fellowship is 1 year (2nd year negotiable)

Canadian Resident is 2 years

International Fellowship is 1 year (2nd year negotiable)

Academic Year

July 1 - June 30 

Program Requirements

  • Base specialty training in Paediatrics, Anaesthesia, or Paediatric Surgery

  • Specialty certification is mandatory for acceptance by the University of Toronto and CPSO

Application Timeline

Jan 1 - Mar 31

Applications are accepted for the following July academic year

April 1 - Aug 31

Applications are reviewed (reference checks completed and where applicable, trainees will be contacted for interview)

Sept 1 - Oct 31

Final selections are made and offer letters will be sent to successful candidates

Nov 1 - Dec 31

Appointments are finalized with the Postgraduate Medical Education (PGME) office at the University of Toronto
